Massage

Well hello All:) I'm taking it you found out about my website through the flyers i have been putting up around town...
Heres the Scoop: I've been in school now a little over 3 months practicing massage therapy at the Cayce/Reilly school of Massotherapy. Its been a wonderful 3 months of learning and discovering the ancient art of Massage.

I am now looking for people to practice on. Here's what will happen when you call:

1. I will take down your phone number and address and let you know the Times i'm available.

2. We'll set up a date and time and i'll be there at that set date and time... Unless i call and need to reschedule.

3. When at your home i will set up shop. Would prefer to have a room that is quiet. I will bring everything we will need.

4. Before starting we will sit down and discuss what we would like to get out of this session. In this time i will ask you if you have any contra indications for massage, Examples: osteroposis, recent surgery, spinal injurys, or anything else that might prevent us from going through with the session... For most people this won't be a issue...

5. I would also like to talk about past injurys, work, where you hold your stress etc...

6. After that we will begin with you getting undressed and onto the table. For some people this becomes a issue and all i say is get undressed to the point your comfortable. Underwear usually stays on, Actuallly i prefer if it does... you will always be covered up other than the place i'm working on...

7. Massage begins and you Relax for a Hour or Hour and a half usually.

8. After the session we will talk for a bit and that is the time you can give me feedback and i can
let you know places that need more work or other healthy activitys that may help...

Psychosomatic Unity

Got this handout in one of my classes and really hit me right... Heres the rundown...

"One of the best ways to preserve your emotional health is to have your outside match your inside... also known as, " Say what you mean and mean what you say" Psycho-mind and Somatic body .... so our mind and our body need to agree..."

We Do not have Psychosomatic Unity when we:

1. Agree(even silent agreement) with others when in reality we do not.

2. When we feel we have been wronged but say nothing.

3. We tell people what we think they want to hear.

4. We constanly put our ideas, opinions and needs on the back burner and acquiesce to others.

What happens when we do this?

A. The rage and powerlessness that these actions cause do not go away but stay lodged in our bodies reeking havoc with our cells and organs...

What we Can do...

Learn methods of correct conforntation is essential. And learning assertiveness(rather than Aggressiveness) is essential. And setting correct boundaries for ourselves is essential in living a healthy productive life. Just doing these things will go a long way toward created psychosomatic unity that will bring greater health....

This is related to losing our "inner locus of control"

Psychologist estimate that less than 20% of the population has an "inner locus of control" the kind of self possession in which persons are guided by their own standards rather than beliefs about what others may think".. This iw what we absoulutely need and need to strive for... we all need to be our own guiding lights...

I think this last passage is so key, you yourself knows right from wrong, you know how to live a wholesome good life, don't worry about what other people think, be yourself!

Sinus congestion

Well here is a good one coming from a fellow class mate Ervin "Straight Magic" Johnson.....
Sinues giving you a hard time? Stuffy noses, itchy throat, post nasal drip The list goes on and on, This Sinus Tonic will clean you right out and I plan on trying it Right Now- be back in 10 minutes and i'll Tell ya how it goes.... Well before i leave this is what i'll be doing-
1. Find yourself a cup that you can comfortable fit your nose into
2. 3/4 fill the glass with warm water
3. Add 1/8th teaspoon of Table salt
4. Stir real good , till salt dissolves.
5 Now i know this next step sounds Tricky or gross, Put your Nose into the cup and tilt the cup up and take a deep breath of the water through your nose.
6. IT will go up your nose and clean out everything up in your sinus cravity and run down to your mouth, Spit out what ever comes out and do it again till the glass of water is gone...
7... BYE Bye Congestion, HELLO FRESH AIR:)

I'm off to try it right now, Wish me luck!

well alright, Not as bad as i thought it might be, it takes a few times of trying to get in as much water as you can into your sinus cavity but I must say that i'm quite impressed... He said i would def be able to breath much easier and That def is the case! So give it a try Its not hard at all and very worth the time, takes 2 minutes! So get your nasal passage ways Breathing Soo right and Smelll that nice fresh fall air! Take care...

Being Peaceful

Being peaceful is easy so don't make it hard, being peaceful is joyful so don't say its not fun, being peaceful is seeing whats in front of you and accepting how things are, being peaceful means not talking ill about others for those ill feelings will find there way back to you... being peaceful is stopping and smelling the roses even when your late to work. being peaceful is understanding that you are no better than Him or her and she or he is no better than you... being peaceful is seein why are minds wander... Being peaceful is loving the person you are... Being peaceful is not faulting others for things you might think are wrong... Being peaceful is seeing that humans make mistakes... Being peaceful gives you a break from the hustle and bustle and lets you see what is truly important, Being peaceful is being an example for others All the talk in the world won't make you feel peaceful inside intill you apply what you learn and then you'll see why being peaceful Makes you feel happy inside...

Food Allergies

Have you had times when you all of sudden feel down and out of it? Been depressed for a prolonged period of time without any real reason? Have a cloudy head? Loss of memory? Any one of these syptoms maybe the cause of food allergies and everyone could be helped by discovering if they are affected by food allergies... Personally I was never aware of being effected by foods since i started getting in tune with my body, before that if i wasn't feeling good i thought it must be i was having a bad day and needed some rest or i was coming down with an illness... So i suffered through alot with no real reason why, Then i discovered one day after eating a Grilled cheese sandwich that my head was cloudy my motivation was gone i was tired and overall didn't feel that well... So i put 2 and 2 together and came up with 4 reasons i wasn't feeling good, First i was eating white bread, which has little nutritional value and really does nothing good for the body, Second Dairy , Apparenltly i was allergic to dairy and had never really known it, I thought i just had a bad memory and was down because thats how i was born or something, Wrong The food we eat is what makes us who we are... Go around eating crap junk and your body is going to be a toxin dump... Eat foods that your body is allergic too and your body will react and tell you that it doesn't like those foods, IF you listen or not the body will still at least try to respond to you that what your eating Is not good and To stop eating it if you want to feel better...


Its been a long journey of discovering what i'm allergic too because i never had any blood work which i recommend for people that can afford it and never have tried using one of those sheets you can find in most "Healthy Eating" books... So Do yourself a favor and find which foods Adversly effect your body, You will be happy you did even if that means no more pizza or milk or grains or whatever you might be allergic too, Plus it takes about one month to get your body completely off a sorten food like dairy, just because you drank a glass of milk yesterday doesn't mean it leaves your body the next day, What we Eat Builds our bodies, I know common sense but just to a reminder...

So again if your feeling down, cloudy head, sad, lack of motivation, lack of energy, or just plain don't feel well, Get in tune with your body and find out if your allergic to any sorta food....

Acupressure

I love it i love it i love it!~~!!! This school is really going to teach me alot and its soo exciting.. Today i had acupressure done on me for the first time and WOW... A classmate of mine, one who i admire very much for her caring nature and her Big SMILE:) Performed acupressure on me today, While she was doing it i was told to breath deeply and relax which i did, she hit a few key spots and while she does each spot the tightness in each spot just melts away.. But more than that after its all done you have a feeling like your floating, i have never had anything like it and just very excited about learning more about it, the ride home today i was giggling i felt soo good! Def def something you should try if you get a chance if you can just relax and go with whats being done you'll be very impressed i'm sure.... I'm still on cloud 9! backpain, neck pain, all gone.... everything feels great!

New Beginnings

Sorry for not posting for awhile, not sure if anyone is really even lookin but either way... Just moved to Virginia to start my classes in Massage therapy so i won't be able to post as much but When ever possible and if i learn anything new that i think you all might find interesting i'll be sure to get a post up.... Got alot of more So healthy Go healthy Post in me but until i get settled and stuff i won't be on as much... So stay tuned- stay Right dont' fight and keep that body tight! Tuna and Eggs












Ok so i've been going around and asking people what they think is something they think should be added to So Healthy< >Go Healthy and I got this one from My brother a pretty dedicated Weightlifter... All he had to say to me was "Tuna and eggs seth" "Tuna and Eggs" For you weightlifters out there and i'm sure alot of you know this but like the man Said Eat your Tuna and Eggs each day for Crazy Protein for a very reasonable Cost! One can of Tuna has More than enough protein for one sitting- In one sitting your suppose to consume no more than 25 to 30 mgs of Protein, you can take more but your body can only use so much at a time, Instead of pounding 50+Mgs down your throat in one sitting, spread It out and Watch your Results go Thru the Roof...

Some side advice for weightlifters- I can't stress enough how important Stretching Is... Just take the 20 minutes before lifting and get a good stretch in and you'll feel So good!

Love Yourself


This post is to help you become aware of how you feel about yourself... Your a special being, no one else is like you, your an indiviual among a bunch of other individuals... Some how along the way we as a society have tried to mimic or act like other people, usually its so called famous people, athletes, moviestars etc... We see something they do and think its "cool" and we go out and try to aspire to do that certain something, could be as simple as dress a certain or act a certain way... Don't get me wrong people just don't' see one person and say Ohh i wanna be just like that person right down to the T, i think its more like we see many people each day and take a little from each person to try to put ourselves together... The problem is we never reach that perfect point where we think we are Perfect... (i'm perfect now because i know how to play basketball like Michael Jordan, dress like brad Pitt, sing like Jim Morrison and have sex like Some porn star... If i put all these things together would i then become perfect and finally start to love the person i am... Maybe, But you know what while your out trying to perfect yourself and be like this person and that person and everyone else your forgetting about one person--YourSelf! You can go on a lifetime trying to become "perfect" you know what Though your'll never reach that point because how do you define perfect? Its just a mental creation we make up in are mind.... So you can go on the rest of your life trying to perfect yourself but i'm here to ask you to take a look at yourself honestly and ask yourself if you love yourself, Most of us find it hard to love ourselves because we all have some So called bad habits and maybe act differently from the crowd now, Me, I don't know how to Swim as good as i wish i could , can't sit down and finish one chapter of a book and don't have alot of money ETC,,,,,,,,,,, Exactly my point- the list will go on and on and everyone has their list! So what- you can still love the person you are because your an individual your like no one else your who you are and for that your special! And you know what happens, you start to love the person you are and it keeps growing and you start doing the things you always wished you could do, and you start to love yourself more and more- Its just getting over that hump and ACCEPTING The person you are and Loving the person you are...

It may seem like i conflicted myself by adding this quote because Edgar is talking about Same .
As you progress through life you may come to the conclusion that all is same and this is true but its hard to Concepualize, I talk about how we all are very different from one another, and yes we are when we look at each other as EGO's and selves and Talk about I ... The fact of the matter is , Is there is no "I" there is no self... Try to put "your" finger On "Yourself", you can't because as each moment passes "you" are Different everything in your body has changed..... Here is a good test- Go find a picture of "yourself" Are "YOU" the same person you were when that picture was taken-Of course not- "you" have grown and have changed quite a bit... This can be hard to swallow but is a Truth there is No such thing as "you" "I" "self" Its just a mental creation we make up in "our" mind... So if you look at the world like this then yes "We" are all the same but getting back to the reality that most of us know our Ego, Self I, We are very different from each other... But in the Big Picture Everything is One... Just a Big Ball of Energy and "WE" are along for the ride.... A ride to find the light, and the light is God...

Water


Pinch the skin on the top of one of your fingers... Does it stand up??? If so that means your Body is thirsty. Water is what we mostly consistent of its so Important to keep your body well hydrated. In the last post i mentioned how vital it is to get a good sweat in a few times a week now the second part of that is making sure you drink plenty of water... Think of yourself just adding clean fuel to your body each day and sweating out those dirty toxins... Your mother always said Water quenches your thirst more soo than any other drink.

Sauna / Steam Room


The Sauna and steam room are sooo great! Esp during the colder months because we don't sweat as much... Sweating is the body's main Detoxifying Process and The steam room and Sauna really make you sweat!!! I don't recommend Sauna or steam room for Weight loss because all you are really losing is water weight but spending a few days a week in a sauna /steam room will shed off some of those extra pounds... BUT again the main purpose for sitting in one of these Hot rooms is to cleanse the body of impurties, toxins...

Many Gyms have either a sauna or steam room now a days, Try making a habit of getting in there a few times a week and your body will thank you!

MyoTherapy


What Is It?
Myotherapy ("myo" is from the Latin for muscle) is a specialized form of muscle massage and stretching that uses deep manual pressure on specific spots on the body to release trigger points. Knots of tension, trigger points usually occur within a taut band of skeletal muscle or in the muscle's fascia (connective tissue encasing the muscle). Because these points are painful upon compression, they can "trigger," or cause, pain in other parts of the body. Myotherapy aims to relax these muscle knots and quickly relieve muscle-related pain.

These trigger spots are not hard to find, TRY this...
Take your right or left hand and with your fingers find some tight spots in your neck area, when you find one really start working it putting pressure on that spot for 5 to 7 seconds then release do this for a minute or so and watch that tension disappear.. The Pressure should be hard enough that the pain is bearable but you feel some pain! Gotta feel some pain to take that pain Away!

Plus for all you Newbies out there that aren't to familiar with your body, do me a Huge Favor and figure out where you hold your tension, Stress. This is one thing everybody should know about themselves and its soooo helpful... If you figure out where you hold your tension you'll be more aware when that area is real tight and when this happens you can stretch it out, massage it out or Even better go for a massage and let someone else get rid of that tension....

Yoga


The benefits of Yoga are numerous. Yoga calms you down, gives you more energy and helps you stay younger. Plus Yoga improves posture, increases the intake of oxygen, and enhances the functioning of the respiratory, digestive, endocrine, reproductive and elimination systems.. Basically its just all around Good For Ya, So> Healthy and very enjoyable as well…….

Well i'll admit when you first start Yoga, Or stretching it can be kinda painful, your bending ways that your muscles are not use too and years of never really getting stretched out has lead them to becoming tight... While yes at first Yoga or stretching hurts a bit, after awhile you will be looking foward to stretching because you'll see how Great you feel after really getting strectched out, Its a natural high after a good yoga class... The great thing about yoga is it incorporates proper breathing techinques as well, this is helpful for calming your mind and releasing built up stress...

The benefits of yoga are so far reaching, proper prosture, breathing and well stretched muscles are going to lead to a more enjoyable quality of life, Think about it if your in pain you can't possible be comfortable , if your not comfortable you can't be that happy, if your not happy, you look for things to mask your unhappyness or take drugs, medication to relieve your unhappyness, >>this leads you to living a fake life of happyness not the path anyone wants to choose but i can see how easy it is to find that path.... Yoga is going to help relieve those tight muscles that cause your pain, Maybe its not pain you feel maybe your just unhappy well yoga release natural endorphins that give you an all natural high, its very easy to get hooked on Yoga and follow a Path onto better health....

Juice Fasting is a great way to Safely Detoxify your body. It is a great method of removing unwanted toxins and weight. Even if you feel you are relatively healthy, a juice fast is a wonderful Preventative measure against aging and possible future Ill health.

Ok heres how to start a Juice fast... The day before you start start weaning your way off solid food, eat mostly fruits and vegatables, The day of the fast Drink Alot of Distilled Water and Either go to the store and Purchase some *Naked* Juice Drinks they are made out of one pound of fresh fruit and so easy if your on the run... If your Real serious Grab yourself a Juicer and a Recipe book and Go nuts juicing! While Juice fasting you should drink something when you feel hungary and throughtout the day drink Distilled water with a Lemon... Lemon is a great detox aid... I usually will do a juice fast for 3 days if your a beginner and work your way up from there... 7+ days has the best effect for detoxin....

Get away and Contemplate


Take time to get away from it all.... All by yourself, Just you and your wandering Mind, try to get away and calm the waves of the mind... Most people enjoy going to the beach to get away, it can be any place you feel that helps you calm down and Gives you time to take a few deep breaths and listen to that voice deep within us, Once you quiet the waves of your mind you will hear this voice and it will always guide you in the right direction. By no means are "We" alone in this journey thru life, you may not believe in a heaven above that is fine , but there are forces that direct us for Living a Wholesome GOOD Truthful Moral Life, We can choose to listen or we can choose to let our mind drive us wild.. You got to admit that there is nothing that ever eases the suffereing of Your Wandering mind. Maybe temporality you get what you want and you think your happy, but there is always something else, the minds wants more the mind is never satisfied... The way out of this suffereing is by Seeing, the way out is easy Just simple See... See to be free, See how your Mind Snowballs when you start thinking about something or worrying about something, A great line from Tom Petty " most things i worry about never happen any way" its soo true we worry, worry , worry and for what reason, all the worrying in the world is not going to change one thing... Just be here now, See what is in front of you, Watch your mind drift off and start thinking about what it wants next, Its always something... Take a few deep breaths bring yourself back to Thus and everything will be Ok, yes everything will be ok in the moment... "Take it easy, You got yourself To save"

Meditation


"The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. If our mind is peaceful, we will be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we will experience true happiness; But if our mind is not peaceful, we will find it very difficult to be happy, even if we are living in the very best conditions." Mediation practice is the single best thing you can do to reach peace.

Ok heres the Scoop- you don't do meditation to try to attain enlightment or Reach Nirvana or anything like that, while the latter might happen, your intent should not be to Gain something... Meditation should be done for one very simple Reason, To bring yourself back to the Moment... Most of us, all of us at one time or another live up in our mind- We are busy thinking about what we gotta do tomorrow, Or we are worried about what happen in the past- Or we just day dream the days away never really Living Truly in the Moment... Meditation is here to help us bring ourselfs back and its very simple to do.

  1. Sit down anywhere...
  2. Start taking deep breaths, While Inhaling your stomach should expand out While Exhaling your stomach should Recede in. Try it with your hand on you stomach.
  3. Now bring your attention, Focus to your breath. Focus while you slowly Inhale and when you reach the top of your breath take a sec hold then release
  4. Focus Exhaling all the way down to the very bottom, release all your breath. pause one sec and Inhale... Always always always Focusing on your breath..
  5. Watch your breath go up and down, notice your stomach expand and retract.
  6. Now i know Thoughts will come and go, Let them come and let them go, dont' attach yourself to these thoughts, Keep bringing your Attention, Focus back to your breath...
  7. Keep breathing and keep focusing on the up and down of your breath..
  8. Simple - your living in the moment now

The Opening Post for a Website Of Healthy magnitude...
